Willebrand van Oldenburg

Stadshotel Oldenburg owes its name to Willebrand van Oldenburg. As Bishop of Utrecht, he granted Zwolle its city rights on 31 August 1230.

That marked the start of Zwolle's development into the vibrant Hanseatic city it still is today. The name Oldenburg is a tribute to that chapter in the city's history.

The building

From warehouse to living-room hotel.

The listed building dates from the 17th century and for centuries served as a warehouse for goods traded through Zwolle. Thanks to its location on the water, the city grew into an important trading centre.

Many historic features have been carefully preserved. Behind the distinctive façade, authentic details and modern comfort meet. So you don't just stay in the heart of Zwolle, but in the middle of a piece of living history.
